An Innovative Solution of Internal Communication at Lipor

Lipor, a waste management company, implemented the World VDS Communicator, an internal communication solution integrated into Microsoft Teams, to improve communication with its employees. This case study details the objectives, challenges, results, and lessons learned during the process.

Introduction

With a workforce of 220 employees, Lipor was seeking a solution to improve internal communication and reach all employees efficiently and directly. The implementation of the World VDS Communicator provided a platform that integrated communications directly into the Microsoft Teams environment, already familiar to employees.

Project Purpose

Creating a communication channel aligned with new times and work formats, reaching employees more quickly, directly, and objectively, in real-time and wherever they are.

Why in Microsoft Teams?

Because it is a work platform with increasing prominence within medium and large companies, it is used daily by most employees. It therefore does not require any new effort to convince them to adopt new tools.

The Case Study

The project to implement this tool at Lipor began with a pilot. The company, equally divided between operations and offices, aimed to reach 110 employees who were already using Microsoft Teams daily.

Weekly meetings were held to monitor the project, evaluate the previous week's results, plan the following week, collaborate on suggestions, and provide feedback.

The objectives of the pilot were:

  • General technical validation and suggestions for improvements
  • Conceptual validation, measuring the impact on communication
  • Suggestions for improvements
  • Joint development of this case study for future go-to-market

During the implementation, some technical challenges were encountered but quickly overcome. Additionally, feedback from end-users indicated the need for improvements, which were promptly addressed by the Amplitude Net team.

Key positive points highlighted by Lipor:

  • Easy to understand and use functions
  • A channel that does not require new installations by employees
  • Allows some level of result measurement
  • Enables the sending of exclusive messages
  • Can also reach people in the office who are not reached by television
  • For specific and targeted content, it can reach people in real-time, wherever they are

User Feedback

“The possibilities that the back office allows are enormous, already at a very high level of automation, facilitating the management and planning of content for the Communication Teams. These teams have simple and very intuitive control over the entire programming grid of the App, enabling more assertive communication,” said Nuno Barros from Communication and Sustainability at LIPOR.

Sónia Pereira, also from the Communication and Sustainability department, noted - “TV Teams has proven to be a tool that enables more incisive communication, establishing a connection with the internal employee/client in a more focused way. At the same time, it allows immediate communication in case of need, reinforced by the increasing use of MS Teams itself.”

Additional comments from users:

  • “Everything is already pre-planned and scheduled in the World VDS console, without any need for daily manual interventions.”
  • “I think it’s excellent, and the content is well created. I have no suggestions to add.”
  • “I consider the idea of Lipor TV in MS Teams excellent.”
  • “I think it’s a good initiative! As for the number of contents, I leave it to you. Congratulations and thank you.”
